Thinking ‘outside the box,’ has budget solutions ‘in the bag’.  Before you get discouraged, remember, cuts in funding do not necessarily have to compromise education.  Both parents and businesses can be a powerful tool in absorbing costs for UIL expenses.  If you are feeling the crunch, it is still possible to get all the tools you need for a winning performance and remarkable results.  We strongly suggest compiling a UIL wish list and sharing your list with anyone who might like to make some of these purchases for you.
Our new website has a “Wish List” option that you can create, add products to, and share with others through your online Hexco account.  You can create one wish list, or several, and send the corresponding links to parents or prospective team sponsors through your email.
Throughout the years, many UIL parents have mentioned that they did not know that a company like Hexco Academic existed, and many are willing to purchase additional supplies if it could increase their child’s chances of success.  Businesses are often willing to pay for study materials and can use some of their advertising money on sponsoring a local UIL team. A sponsoring business might even arrange to get a few tee-shirts made with their logo and the name of your UIL Team.  Try area banks, orthodontists, attorneys, doctors, etc. Local media also tend to favor such generosity by including group photos of students and their sponsors in the local newspaper – especially when they return with a mass of awards!
Once your wish list(s) is/are set up, every time you click on a product, a red oval button called “Add to my Wish List” will    appear in the left-hand green column, usually below the Twitter feed.  The Wish List area will display all the lists that you have created.  Choose the appropriate category.
When you have finished shopping and saving to your wish    list(s), you may view, edit or share any list by again clicking on “Wish List” in the horizontal bar.  When you select “Share” under the “Action” list, a link will appear that you can copy and paste into an email and send to whomever you like.
If you prefer print instead of email correspondence, you may print any lists that you create and give them to parents or potential sponsors.  To further assist you, Hexco will provide supplemental downloadable “ask” forms that are appropriate to give parents or business sponsors.  These forms will be available on our “Downloads & Brochures” link on our website at the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year.
